Features

Built around how a board is actually shaped.

Eleven parts of one workflow, from the outline to the cut. Every visual on this page is ShaperLab Pro itself, working on our own boards.

01Design

Draw it the way you shape it.

Outline, deck and bottom rockers and a handful of cross-sections. Drag the points, or type the numbers at the stations, and the board is lofted between them.

  • Top, Side, Section and Perspective windows, tiled your way
  • Lengths in feet and inches, written any way: 6'2 1/2", 6 2, 74" — or mm and cm
  • Rail presets, concave and vee per section, curvature combs and a curve check

02Live 3D & volume

Every edit, measured.

The 3D board follows every drag, and so do the numbers: volume, surface, wide point and centre of volume. Shaded, zebra and curvature views show what the eye misses.

  • Real volume from the lofted surface, not an estimate from dims
  • Estimated weight, flotation line, stability and flex
  • Render looks for showing a customer the board before it exists

03Smart Functions

One window for every change.

Press S, type what you want — "volume", "tail", "channels" — check the fields, which come filled from the board, and Apply. Each change is one step of Undo.

  • Target volume by thickness, width or both
  • Tail and nose shapes, wings, channels, concave presets, beak nose
  • Fin setup presets, toe and cant on every side fin at once, plugs

043D layers

Channels, concaves, wings and a beak.

Cut detail into the bottom and deck as layers on the board itself. Volume, the 3D model, every export and the G-code follow them.

  • Channels that blend out or cut through the tail; ramp channels with editable walls; crisp channels
  • Concaves, spoon nose, recessed deck and deck-rail channels
  • Wings and a beak nose that meet the board smoothly, without a seam

05Fins & boxes

Fins and boxes at real size.

Place fins with their toe and cant, on the boxes you actually install. Boxes and plugs are modelled at hardware size and travel into every file you send out.

  • Fin designer for your own templates
  • Plugs as holes or solids in STL / OBJ, pockets in STEP / IGES
  • Marked or routed boxes in the bottom G-code, fins on the 1:1 PDF and spec sheet

06Shaper Advisor

A starting point for every order.

Fill in the surfer while you take the order — weight, height, age, fitness, level, their waves — and get a family, dims the way a shaper writes them, a target volume and the reasons. Create board opens it from your own template.

  • Length, width, thickness and volume marked solid consensus; rocker, rails, tail and fins marked indicative
  • Created boards land within 3 % of the target volume
  • A local order log with no names, to recalibrate with real boards

07Your files

Opens and saves .s3dx files.

Bring your library with you. ShaperLab Pro opens .s3dx and legacy .brd boards and writes them back; it never overwrites the original, and anything it cannot carry over is listed before you import.

  • .shaperlab is its own document format
  • Rebuild a board from a 3D scan (STL, OBJ, PLY)
  • Import a single curve from DXF or probe files

08Exports

The file every next step needs.

STL and OBJ meshes, STEP and IGES surfaces for CAD, DXF curves, and true-size PDF templates tiled for any printer — outline, rocker, sections and the spin template.

  • STEP / IGES accuracy you choose and get: 0.2, 0.05 or 0.02 mm
  • 1:1 templates with glue strips, cut marks and a calibration ruler
  • A printable spec sheet with the board, its fins and their table
The Export 1:1 PDF dialog: outline, rocker, sections, paper slicing and assembly marks

09CNC

G-code you watch before you cut.

Deck and bottom programs for 3-axis machines, with the holders, the fin boxes and the blank in place. Run the whole cut in simulation first, then send it.

  • GRBL / generic, LinuxCNC and Mach3 / Mach4 output
  • Boards longer than the machine cut in two, with registration
  • Multi-axis and disk cutters, mold cradles and hot-wire programs

No telemetry. Your boards stay yours.

ShaperLab Pro works offline and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking. When something breaks, a problem report shows you exactly what it holds before anything leaves your computer.

  • Reports never include file paths, licence keys, your name or e-mail
  • Your board is attached only if you tick the box

A taste of it, without installing anything.

The board configurator on faja.surf draws a board in live 3D as you change its type, dims, tail and fins. It is the quickest way to feel how we think about shape.
